As mentioned earlier, West Sumatra, has a
unique matrilineal tradition whereby the female
inherits the ancestral home from her mother.
The highlight of our visit was a visit to the
Istano Pagaruyung which is a royal palace.
Eva's mother is a direct descendent of the
royal family and has her name on the lineage
in the palace's interior. The architecture,
colours and rich history is amazing.
