JEAN S$25 sold

I was so certain when I was preparing this pair of earrings to be photographed that the end result would be good. I just don't get it! Anyway, pretty blue coin shaped cloisonne, pale blue czech glass hang from a ribbed goldplated large hoop.

DARLENE $60

These small tourmalinated quartz nuggets have pretty colours ranging from light peach, brown thru pink and clear. In between these quartz nuggets are small mixed agate beads. 5 carnellian teardrop bead are placed in a semicircle towards the front, like a collar. 17" in total.

BEATRICE S$35 sold

Today has been a rather relaxing, slow Sunday. After a lot of running around in the morning and a slow leisurely lunch, the afternoon dragged on lethargically. I decided it was time to brighten up my day and started rummaging thru' box after box trying to decide on what I should do. Eventually these oval shaped yellow jade with carvings caught my eye. I've teamed it with light turquoise czech glass to add colour to the pale yellow and the rest of the beads are colour co-ordinated with the cloisonne bead. Needless to say it looks more vibrant than this pale photo of mine. 2-1/2" drop.

ORANGE BLOSSOMS S$25

This pair of stud drop earrings was fun to make but difficult to photograph. I took the photo in bright morning sunlight and tried controlling the reflection off the metal bits and in the process blocked the light from capturing the colour graduation in the large faceted czech bead. Flower spacer is pewter and the orange beads are czech glass. 2-1/2" drop.

CORINNA S$27 sold

Under this cloisonne beadcap is a transparent pale pink glass bead from which 2 strands of goldplated chains fall out. The cloisonne bead is a dusky pink with a deep royal blue butterfly and flowers in shades of green. I've picked the royal blue to be the focal colour and complemented it with 2 shades of green and a deep pink cats eye bead. This creation has to be appreciated 'in person' or hopefully I can do a better job with the morning sun. 4" drop.

SWEET LOVE S$50 sold

Pink and sweet. A round tensha bead with a beautiful rose, something that we might receive from our beau on our first date or a rosette corsage to be pinned on our prom gown, southsea pearl finish shell beads, czech glass beads in various shades of pink - light blush to deep milky pink - and pale turquoise to break the cloyingly sweet pink bead arrangement make up this sweet arrangement. From the tensha bead I've strung a 14k gold chain and several beads in colours to complement the pendant and necklace. 17" necklace with a 3" centerpiece drop.

7.27.2006

LUSH S$32

Oval and faceted cherry quartz teamed off with a subtle pink pearl finish shell bead. 14k fine link gold chains and goldfilled ear wires complete this 3-1/4" drop luscious pink creation.

ICICLES S$40 sold

ICICLES

Faceted and dimpled opaque white czech glass beads, bumpy bead, handainted bead and gold and clear faceted czech glass and 2 swarovski crystals. 2 strands of beads linked by chains to a goldplated toggle. 7-1/2" of cool beads.

BOUQUET S$40 sold

Oval opaque and clear red czech glass beads linked by 14k gold chains. At the centre of this bracelet is a black tensha heart shaped bead and this is surrounded by black, red and a transparent green tear drop shaped czech glass beads. 7-1/2" this is linked by a pewter toggle featuring dragon flies.

ERIKA S$58

This is a red jasper creation. Small nuggets and drop beads with side drilled holes make up this exotic piece. This is another of my favourite minerals. I haven't captured the natural inclusions in all the stones but they are quite amazing - each a beauty on its own. 15.5"

7.25.2006

CORAL S$28

Colour enhanced and stabilized coral cubes capped with pewter bead caps and topped with a freshwater pearl, each side dangles from a fine rhodium plated chain. This is a simple yet elegant creation, perfect for days when you don't really want to dress up but definitely don't want to look like you've dressed down. 3" drop. Actual colour of the coral cubes are a peachy pink. Much nicer than the colour in this photo ;d

LUCILLE S$35 SOLD

This is an unusual combo because I love the lemon tone of the czech glass oval bead which hangs from a 14k gold chain. From the gold chain I've attached amethyst, yellow turquoise and aragonite beads. Approx 3" drop

DESTINY S$30 sold

The same carnellian donuts used for LOVINIA but this time in a pair of earrings. I've photographed them separately 1) to show the beads used and 2) how it 'sits' when worn

7.24.2006

LOVINIA S$65 sold

Rings of carnellian, citrine chips, autumn jasper and swarovski pearls as spacers. I wanted to call this creation RINGS OF FIRE because the circles look real 'hot' ;D 16-1/2"

CHRISTINE S$70

This is a perfect example of BAD photography! These lovely chrysoprase pointy beads are a beautiful shade of green but it looks kind of hazy over here. I've matched it off with pewter beadcaps, peridot chips sandwiching carnellian flat roundelles and pale aventurine chips. Approx 16" in total length.

7.23.2006

ROSALINE S$65 sold

Faceted Rose quartz rondelles and rounds, dyed aragonite, rose quartz and rhodochrosite chips and pewter bead caps make up this divinely sweet necklace. The colours are much sweeter in reality especially the dyed aragonite which is a beautiful deep pink. The natural argagonite colour is a lovely shade of yellow but these dyed one are just as beautiful.

7.22.2006

CARNIVAL S$30

This is one side of a pair of earrings. I have problems with photographing small objects at close range (basically I have a problem with photography )because I try to 'capture' everything - different beads, colors, details. I have'nt done a good job even whilst focusing on just this one piece but I think it does show up much of the details. I've named it CARNIVAL because its so colourful and cheery and makes me think of balloons, lots of happy, smiling people and bascally just a fun scenario.

7.21.2006

JEANNIE S$60 sold

Turquoise/blue apatite chips, green fluorite chips and the piece de resistance - the large gold filigree leaf. This is a special purchase from someone's 'private collection' so I will not be able to do another piece using a gold leaf. Holding on to either side of this leaf are swarovski crystals with a pewter spacer in between. The crystals are pale green and blue green to match the colour tone of the apatite and fluorite chips. Of course I have not captured the beautiful colours of the beads - they both have an irridescent tone when tilted to the light.

CORNUCOPIA S$35 sold

Cornucopia is the horn of plenty. This cloisonne bead cap kind of reminds me of a horn so I thought up of a design that would allow me to use the word CORNUCOPIA. Well, this horn of mine is a horn of plenty - overflowing with 'gems' instead of the fruits/flowers usually seen in paintings/sculptures. This horn is surrounded by pearls, cat's eye glass beads and it encases a beautiful czech glass briolette which is an amazing blue/green shade. I'm sure there's one word to describe this colour but for some reason it's not coming to me. Anyway, it all hangs from a chain which gives it a total drop of 3-3/4"

CHERRIES S$30 sold

This is an interesting mix. Opaque howlite and jasper beads accompany a slightly translucent cherry quartz. Nice pewter beadcap tops the cherry quartz. 3" of cheery cherry ear candy.

BERRIES S$70 sold

A basket full of ripe red berries and a few tart ones too. Faceted teardrop centerpiece is a green aventurine whilst the pinky red beads are cherry quartz.

SWEETPEA S$34 sold

This is a 'bad' photo. I'll do
another one tomorrow morning.
Pale light turquoise ovals and a mixed concoction of pearls, swarovski crystals and a faceted amethyst. 14k gold plated chain
gives length to this very sweet number. Slightly over 3" drop.

I did a similar piece sometime ago. This creation is slightly different in that I've used turquoise and carnellian instead of agate. The colours are much prettier than in the photo. Lariat style with front fastener.
I grew up in a household surrounded by beautiful things - not expensive or 'over the top' beauty but things of beauty created by my mother. Both me and my sister grew up with the prettiest of dresses, from the time we were toddlers right thru' our teens. She is also a fantastic cook and an excellent homemaker. It has been a natural process therefore to want to constantly 'create' things of beauty myself. I've taught myself to crotchet, to knit, to sew. However, the one hobby that has consumed me, is of course my latest adventure in this wonderful craft of beading.

When I started out on this little project which I like to describe as a hobby, I only had one thing on my mind - to create jewellery for my daughter, my family and my friends. Never did I imagine that it would evolve into a culture that would change my life.

In this last year, I have had the privelege and honour of being exposed to true artists. Artists who are unselfish with their compliments and constructive criticism. I have always had this feeling of "is my work good enough" and that in itself is not a bad thing because it has forced me to look to other artists so that I might improve. One of these wonderful people (and trust me, I've come to know many since joining Flickr) who has touched my life has been Jessica Moreau-Berry - not because she has made positive comments about me but because she is so absolutely talented and is extremely blase about it. Apart from creating jewellery from 'junk' (her words not mine ;D) she is a painter who has turned old, junk furniture into collectors items. I am of course enamoured by the life she leads. I used to dream of living in a cottage (my dream cottage would fit into one of the back pockets of her farmhouse)by the lake and to be able to indulge in artistic pursuits then to sit on the front or back porch of my house just to 'chill' and watch the day go by. Jes is able to do all that in her 150 year old farm in Maine, USA.

Today I read a post that Jes has entered in her blog. In it she speaks of sharing - I have always felt that people in the arts could and would be more successful if they open their minds and their hearts and work together. Sharing is not a bad thing on some level. I don't mean sharing your secrets, techniques, ideas, but sharing yourself. Not always being concerned that someone thought something up before you, or jealous. - Jes has summed up in this short paragraph what Simone and I have been trying to do in sharing our work and in connecting and complimenting other great crafters. It takes a certain amount of confidence to say the things that Jes speaks about and I want to 'promote' her site so that us lesser mortals will learn a lesson from this wonderful gal from Maine, USA. Its about 'sharing', about connecting with people across the world, about promoting friendships and not about envy or competition. Another great artist who is also a quiet achiever is my friend from the other side of this world, Karin. Only if you know Karin well enough and know her background will you be amazed at how far she's come. I look to these talented people for my inspiration, to remind myself that there are other people more talented than myself and that I have a long way to go. In my learning process I will keep my eyes and my heart open! Life will be so much more fulfilling when you look at your neighbour and say "what a beautiful garden she has, how can I grow my plants so that they flower just like hers" rather than "I wish my plants were more beautiful than hers". A simplistic overview but the message is strong.

To all my friends from across the world, you will never know how you have changed my life, made me a better person, thank you ;D

AMY S$30 sold

This is a fun pice - 36" in length and featuring mauve, lilac, black and white beads. In the lower half of this necklace bronze ribbed chain links clasp irregular shaped stone donuts, towards the back I've used dyed cotton cord in purple tones with double hand knots acting as spacers. Pewter toggle 'locks' this creation.

I've named this Amy, in honour of someone who had to be 'disappointed' this morning but alls well that ends well and Amy will get her wish ;p

7.18.2006

CREME DE LA CREME S$32 sold

This is a creation using very, very soft colours. The large 'dimpled' bead is a pale cream, the round beads are in tones of baby blue, powder pink, clear peach, cream and the large bead is an opalite with a blue tinge. Topping this creation is a matte gold bead. All beads used are czech glass and bead caps are pewter spacers.

CHAMPANGE S$32 sold

Another late evening shot which hasn't done much for these pretty beads. Powder pink czech faceted glass briolette, AB finish czech glass and freshwater pearls. Czech glass beads have a tone much like champange

COLEEN S$36 sold

Pear shape carnellian, small moonstone, amazonite, carnellian and swarovski crystals grace this elegant number. Glam enough for the cocktain circuit and fun enough to party the night away!

7.17.2006

HEATHER S$30

Lilac, lavender, amethyst, mauve and pink. Opalite lilac faceted czech glass bead with bead cap tops this creation. To the chain I've attached swarovski crystals in colours that complement the 2 czech glass beads. Will have to retake this in the day so that the pretty colours can be appreciated. 3" drop

ATHENA S$75

ATHENA
Originally uploaded by BelindaLee.

ATHENA was a deity of diverse functions and attributes. Her most conspicuous role was perhaps that of a goddess of war, the female counterpart of Ares. However, she was also a goddess of peace, noted for her compassion and generosity. Unlike Greek mythology, my creation is more down to earth. I would like it to represent positive attributes - love, peace, compassion, forgiveness. This 25" necklace consists of beautifully smooth carnellian, tiny red tiger eye, jasper and an agate donut.

CARNELLIAN: - Protects against fear, envy and rage, and helps to banish sorrow from the emotional structure. The message of carnelian is that since one "is" love, there is nothing to do but to offer the love - each offering of love bringing an exponential increase in the quantity of love returned.

In other words - PERFECT for the completion of this creation to promote and radiate love.

ORIENTAL BEAUTY - SOLD

Square black cloisonne, black chain, swarovski crystals and a czech glass bead. All the little beads have been picked from the colours of the cloisonne bead and the black chain completes the colour palette

BLACK ROSE S$29

BLACK ROSE
Originally uploaded by BelindaLee.

CHANCES S$70

CHANCES - sold

We take chances everyday of our lives. Some moves are calculated, some of us are braver take risks. Some risks pay off, some don't. This represents chances or risks. The majority onyx would hopefully indicate, calculated moves that don't see us too much in trouble or in the red. Good vibes this should bring.

CHERRYFIZZ S$40

CHERRYFIZZ sold
I love this series of beads - its a cross between orange and pink. I've strung it on a dyed leather thong. The leather is in a dusky pink so the knots separating the beads add to the 'mystery' colour of the beads - not pink, not orange. Resin and absolutely lightweight The excess leather (such a waste to throw it away) is woven thru chain links and this piece ends with a goldplated toggle.

JANICE sold

2 concentric hoops in goldplate with an oval and a round turquoise bead as the dangles. Thru' the larger hoop I've threadled beads in a similar shade as the large beads.

7.15.2006

CANDY STRIPES

CANDY STRIPES sold
This is a pretty creation. Unfortunately my camera battery was fading on me but I refused to go change it and this is the result. Basically, this creation consists of a candy striped slightly wavy czech bead with a swarovski crystal topping it. A chain with pearly czech glass and smokey pink and lilac indian glass beads. 3"drop.

99 RED BALOONS S$35

99 RED BALLOONS - sold

SWEET MEMORIES S$38

SWEET MEMORIES sold
July 14 marked the wedding anniversary of my dear friend Karin. Karin and her husband are still so much in love even though they first set eyes on each other many, many years ago. The smokey pink beads are a sweet reminder of her love and the white flowers against the black background represent new hope, new beginnings with the black representing the past which is obviously in the background. 16-1/2" of memorable love.

COCA STEAMBOAT RESTAURANT

I'm actually too embarassed to post more pictures of food. After almost the whole afternoon out I only managed to complete 2 pairs of earrings this evening by the time the kids came home and we managed today to get both of them at home at the same time and we decided on an early dinner so we could eat together as a family and they could go off and do whatever it is they wanted to after dinner. As our son is doing his National Service and our daughter works, we only get to see them at dinner time=even then not on a daily basis and that makes dinner a special time for the family when we are all able to eat together. We usually eat out at times like this so that they won't be distracted by the TV or phonecalls and we can have proper quality family time. We decided on steamboat as it needs the involvement of everybody at the table. This is one of our favourite steamboat restaurants. COCOA at International Building.

OCEANIA S$38

OCEANIA sold
Unfortunately the beautiful gold embellishments on the shell are 'lost' to the evening light. I tried to complete this pair of earrings before the sun went down so that I could use the natural light but obviously I've missed the boat. This pair of earrings comes in 2 pcs. It consists of a beautiful sage and gold shell, a 14K gold chain, freshwater pear, swarovski pearl and mixed agate beads. 4" drop

IN TANDEM S$27

IN TANDEM - sold
Couldn't think of an appropriate name so I think being in tandem would be an apt description of this creation. Oval turquoise coloured beads with black and gold embellishment teamed with white and light bronze pearls and a gold bead. A faceted czech AB finish turquoise briolette swings in tandem at the end of this creation. 3-1/2" drop.

7.13.2006

NOIR ET BLANC S$35

NOIR ET BLANC sold

Abstract would be an apt word to describe this creation. The theme is abstract but the essence is absolutely as clear as black and white. Resin and glass beads in plain, striped and polka dotted strung on 2 strands of cord - a white and a black cord and handknotted to form spacers. The polka dotted bow ties up any loose ends. Approx 38"
