ALLY - PRIVATE ORDER

ALLY is a piece specially commissioned by a mother for her daughter's 18th birthday. Pat, Ally's mum, has this special tradition wherein she marks each milestone, each new phase of her daughter's life, with a special gift 12 going on 13, when she turned 16, now 18 and then when she turns 21, when she gets engaged, when she gets married, when she has her first baby - haha! Pat, should I stop? Of course these are tangible things that I speak of. As a mother, Pat has showered upon Ally, the most important and intangible gift of all - a no holds barred Mummy's love.........

I came up with a couple of suggestions for Pat to do her selection and she was very specific about what she wanted. When I showed her this photo I could hear the excitement in her voice when she said "thats it"! This so encompasses Ally - pure simplicity with an understated beauty. Ally is a beautiful and slim young lady. The ultra fine 925 silver chain would make this simple ruby drop look like its floating off an invisible chain. I don't see Ally (from her photos) as a showy person. Arty and unassuming and definitely not one to draw boisterous attention to herself. This suits her to a T.

I've been very disciplined and organized this weekend. Whilst sticking to a meticulous timetable so that I can complete the list of earrings and necklaces on order, I came across this set of lentils which I also used for another set of earrings. In this set I've use'd a pair of goldplated leaf connectors to hook up the lentils to the earwires. Only the leaf charms are goldplated, my pins, split rings and earwires are all 14k goldfilled.

After posting my conundrum yesterday I did get some wonderful feedback/emails from those who truly understood what I was trying to say. It was hilarious reading their take on my post. Much appreciated ladies!

REBEKAH (BL 642-07) S$68 SOLD


We've had really cool weather here in Singapore but our cool weather is usually associated with rain which really puts an added dampner on things. In this case my photography!

These are lovely moss green and brick red tree jasper nuggets. I love the irregular shape of the nuggets and I've used faceted red jasper rondells as spacers. These stones have a rather rustic earthy feel about them so I've chosen to go basic and natural and added two hilltribe silver beads to complete the look. Measuring approx 18" this is an 'evergreen'.

JUST A LITTLE NOTHING ABOUT MUCH - Whilst I receive frequent feedback that so and so's dropshots/live journal/blogspot/typepad has once again tried to replicate a creation of mine including the name, I usually shrug it off as their loss not mine as its an obvious case of lack of creativity on their part. What really bugs me is the lifting of my text/words. If you want to use my text/words I would suggest having your thesaurus or dictionary on hand because when I choose subtlety to infer something, you might just miss the point if you haven't caught on and don't have follow thru'. Thats when the demon comes out of the closet and starts laughing at you for truly not understanding what I was trying to say in the first place. The fluidity of the language gets lost when you switch to your own brand of writing. Originality encompasses totality and that would include the copywriting. Sanctimonious professing on your sites about ethics and copyright laws does not absolve you from the very act you claim to deplore.

These amazing blue stones are Arizona Turquoise - in its natural state without any colour enhancement . Faceted and measuring 1/2" down and 1/2" across at its broadest, I tried many different stones to match them off but settled for these beautiful 5mm freshwater coin pearls. A slightly wavy 14k goldfilled tube gives length and fluidity to this creation. With a drop of approx 3"/7cm they're nothing less than head turners!

Today I woke up feeling on top of the world. It was still just before sunrise and I could see the faint glow of the rising sun in the sky. I felt grateful to be able to wake up to the thrill of birds just moving out of their nests to spread their wings, the smell of morning dew on my plants after last night's rain and the best gift of all - peace. I know this is not something we should take for granted and for that I'm doubly grateful. This creation sums up how I feel today. Crystal clear thoughts and at peace with myself. A fantastic multi faceted quartz puffed teadrop with a slightly bevelled edge, a 14k goldfilled connector and a couple of aquamarine faceted coins and moonstone brios all hanging daintly off a 16" goldfilled chain which closes with a 14k goldfilled lobster clasp. This nugget sits right smack in the center high above the chest and is a dazzler. Quartz teardrop measures 1" down and 1" across at the base.

The absolutely best part of my 'hobby' is the friendship that has developed online with many of you out there. Mel has been very supportive of my work ever since she stumbled onto my blog. We have become 'online' friends and she shares with me snippets of her worklife and her travels and makes it a point to compliment each piece of jewellery that she receives. Today, I returned home from my morning errands to find this beautiful floral arrangement from her. She knew I was feeling a little under the weather and decided to cheer me up. I know Mel works in a fast paced and very stressful environment and sometimes she feels like pulling her hair out but inspite of that she found the time to do something to make me happy!

She is the epitome of the "happy people filled with love" I talk about in the "About Me" section of my blog.

Elegant phantom quartz puffed ovals with natural quartz inclusions separated by 925 silver beads. MACHIKO (BL 636-07) PRIVATE ORDER

These are the same coveted clay lentils I used in YURI. I've called this piece MACHIKO which means fortunate in Japanese because I have been blessed and very fortunate to have met such wonderful friends thru my beading. These 5 lentils were reserved by a person very dear to me. She will give me a tongue lashing when she reads about herself because she is neither boastful nor judgemental. More importantly I have called this fortunate because I have been tardy about getting this ready and have been fortunate that she has been very patient with me. Lovingly guarding these 5 lentils are beautiful sandstone beads in ascending size and on one side I've even graduated the stones to a slightly oval shape. The sandstone has the same irridescent quality as the lentils - bits of gold flecks in an underlying layer. Measuring around 22 " this will sit nicely under her collar and the lentils will stand out nicely at the side towards the bottom and slightly off center.

I just wish, wish I could capture the true beauty and essence of these 2 fantastic gemstones that I've used to create this pair of earrings. Flawless chrysoprase - a gemstone variety of chalcedony and commonly called Australian jade because of the large mines there - AAA grade faceted moonstone rondells, 14k goldfilled accents. Preciously delicate they swing at a drop of 4 cm from the top of the curve of the earwires to the base of the teardrops. The actual piece of jewellery is going to far surpass what you expect because this photo is just so *blaaaaahhhh*!

Note: - As a rule, I wipe all earwires with a cotton swab soaked in surgical spirit even though I use mainly 925 silver and goldfilled earwires.

I love these flat facetted lemon quartz nuggets which have a soft tint and are translucent. Measuring approx 2" x .75"/2 cmx1.5 cm these nuggets are like cubes of iced lemonade. Breaking the outline are 2 polymer clay lentils which fit right smack at the side of the neck. Total necklace length is 18". Tempted, oh so tempted, to hold on to this for meself.

Sometimes we meet a person for the first time and immediately we're struck by an affinity that comes from within. These puffy pink facetted chalcedony teardrops have that exact same quality. I can't find the words to describe what I feel when I look at them but they have a certain quality that makes me just want to hold them and admire them. I've added a dash of mystique with the 3 facetted iolite rondells which are more lavender than azure.
Dropping approx 4 cm from the curve of the goldfilled earwires to the base of the chalcedony this is a pair that I'd keep for the "want to feel good days".

These are in so many ways worth much more than the $ value attached to them.

Rather than use other stones to embellish this lovely set of gems, I've decided to play with shapes. Dangling from 'hammered' 925 silver oblong hoops are a set of beautiful faceted coin shape pink amethyst gemstones. The total drop of the earrings is 5 cm, 3 cm made up by the hoop. Even though I've done one of my 'night' shots, the clarity and facets of the amethyst still shine through.

I spent a nostalgic afternoon with friends from my school days. We've all gone our separate ways but it was wonderful to be able to sit, laugh at old photos and catch up on old stories and listen to the high jinks that took place. School used to be such fun. One of our friends actually has a classroom plan - a handwritten list of where each of us sat in the four rows in class. That is truly an amazing document. Needless to say that person is today an 'educator' herself. Obviously gifted with 'looking' over an entire class she is a very dedicated teacher
